HEL Mountain Bike Kit
HEL Universal Mountain Bike Brake Line Kits

Why do some manufacturers insist on making you pay more than once ? Why do some insist on making you work out what kit you need ? With which master cylinder ? And which model caliper? It just seems unnecessary to us so HEL have come up with the complete system - Before they rushed into the market place they sat down and listened to what riders wanted. What REAL riders wanted. You wanted performance. You wanted a light and gorgeous looking fitting. You wanted a kit which would fit any system instead of having to work out what went with which bit in the store. And so the HEL Mountain Bike Brake Line Kit was born...

You see in every HEL Performance Mountain Bike Brake Line Kit we supply you comes with all the combinations we cover. each kit comes complete with 2 x banjo fittings, 1 x M6 male, 1 x M6 Swivel Male, 1 x M8 Female, 1 x M6-M8 Female Male Adapter, 2 metres of hose, 2 x banjo bolts, 2 x ferrules (we know you only need two but you may need another if you change something) and of course the HEL Performance swage die set.
So that we can offer you a complete system in every box which will fit most front or rear application - whatever the caliper and whatever the master cylinder. And if you change the master cylinder simply swage a different end on which you will already have in our kit. No running back to the shop to spend another 29.99 on a full kit when you only require one end. And HEL ends are actually machined into place - you don't need a spanner to put them together.

  Fitting Instructions
Cut hose to suit your system using sharp cable cutters or a small hacksaw. If using a hacksaw wrap insulation tape tightly around hose and cut half way along the tape. This will keep the hose from fraying. Carefully remove 8mm of the outer pvc cover from each end of the hose by using a sharp blade - be careful with sharp blades as the pvc cover comes off easily without force.

Gently push the swage ferrule onto the hose feeding the steel braid inside the ferrule by rotating the ferrule as you push it onto the hose. Make sure the lip of the ferrule sits on top of the hose.
Push a small braddle or equivalent pointed instrument into the hose to make the tube as round as possible. Push the hose tail into the centre of the ferrule ensuring that it goes into the centre of the hose. Push the fitting into the hose until it comes to rest on top of the ferrule. Fitting is now ready to be swaged.
Place ferrule into the swaging jaws supplied with the kit.

Place in the MIDDLE of a vice as shown. Tighten the vice fully until both swaging jaws are tight together - swaging is complete but with the added benefit that the fitting can still be rotated for alignment after manufacture.

Fitting InstructionsFor Swivel M8 Male And Adapter
  (Magura, Hayes - G2 Caliper)
Push the hose tail of the fitting into the centre of the ferrule ensuring that it goes into the centre of the hose. Push the fitting into the hose until it comes to rest on top of the ferrule and fitting is ready to be swaged. All banjo fittings require 2 washers - one each side of the banjo fitting for the bolt to compress and seal on.

Take the M6 adapter and thread the M8 male into it. Push the hose tail of the fitting into the centre of the ferrule ensuring that it goes into the centre of the hose. Push the fitting into the hose until it comes to rest on top of the ferrule and fitting is ready to be swaged / crimped.

General Fitting Instructions

Fittings can still be aligned (rotated) AFTER swaging so that the hose does not twist when fitted.

When fitting a male swivel fitting screw the male into the M6 - M8 adapter supplied with the kit to keep it out of the way of the swage jaws and then remove it after swaging.
